Wondering what the heck I’ve been up to?

Some days, I wonder how it is that the day has ended so quickly.

Here’s a run down of how our days look like and what I’m loving right now.

Mornings.

The girls and I are blessed to have a husband/dad who loves to make breakfast and that’s how we start the day. I’ve turned into the last riser- whoops- and when I come down for the morning, the kitchen is busy with food prep and coffee waiting…bless him.

I grab my cup and find a quiet spot to read my bible and journal. This is my favorite way to start the day with the added bonus of it being a local Indianapolis business. Woot Woot.

I’m noticed that my mental health is seriously impacted when we can’t take a walk or bike ride so I’ve been using my spin bike in the morning more. We just got a bike we could afford and use the Peloton App to stream rides. Outside walks/Bike rides are still my favorite but this is a great work around.

Of course, the girls have been finishing up their school work so mornings seems to be the most chaotic. I’ve taken to pumping a Chill Jazz station throughout the house to bring some calm to the situation.

Shout-out to all you who are also juggling all the things. It’s not easy.

Mid-Day

I’ve stopped making the girls lunch. How’s that for a confession.

It’s actually working out great. They make themselves a snack or a small sandwich and then head right back to their magical lego land or biking course in the driveway.

By this time I’m ready for another cup of coffee or a nap (kinda joking. kinda not).

Mostly though, I’ve been spending the evening reading. I just finished reading The Water Dancer. But I’ve also finished, Untamed and Reconstructing the Gospel. I’d highly recommend them all. I just started When Helping Hurts, if you want to read a long with me. If you don’t have the Libby App for the library- your missing out. Without being able to go to the library, it’s been a great way to have access to library books!

Evening.

After dinner walks are my favorite. But so is bedtime. I’ve been making sure the girls still go to bed at a decent time- they’re usually asleep by 8:45.

Some nights we sit on the porch talking for hours. Some night we stay up too late watching Netflix. I’m measuring the weeks by how many days are left till the next Insecure episode. We just started Dead to Me and that’s keeping me up later cause you just can’t watch one…

Weekends.

Weekends are weird. Am I right? We’re still at home. We still have to feed the kids. It’s doesn’t feel like much of a break most of the time.

These last two weekends, we’ve been able to head up to our family lake cottage where there are 4 other adults who can keep an eye on, lend a hand to or love on our girls and I’d be lying if I didn’t say it’s been a GLORIOUS relief.

Everything Else.

I’ve been really humbled by the amount and frequency that folks have thought of us throughout this change up. We’ve had random deliveries of donuts, flowers, beer, dress up for the girls, a birthday cake for Berkeley and this beautiful set of painting for the girls rooms from my uber talented cousin who just finished her BA in Fine Art. You can buy her work here.

I took the time a few weeks ago to dig out and add a raised bed garden to our yard. I’d been talking with a friend for months about where to put it and where to buy one but ultimately ended up building the bed myself out of the material I got at Home Depot. I couldn’t be more happy with the way it turned out and the girls are so excited to see things grow.

Business.

I’m sure you’re wondering, what’s it like for someone who just got her Real Estate License to be growing a business during a Pandemic. Honestly, this has been the hard part for me. Mourning the loss of all the well laid plans I had. This is just a reminder that nothing is promised.

Ultimately, I am so very grateful that this is just the beginning for me. I’m thankful that I’ve had time to perfect some systems and make some helpful tools. I’m also really really grateful for the flexibility and feel the charge to grow in all this unknown.

I closed my second deal a few weeks ago and am really proud of the work we were able to do for my buyer and look forward to seeing how she makes that bungalow into a real beauty.

Final Thoughts.

Don’t let me totally fool you. I have days that feel bleak and too much but they are few and far between. I’ve been leaning into my faith more than ever and have found these podcasts to be so helpful.

I’m also really enjoying a weekly prayer night with my church via FB Live.

What about you?

I’d love to hear what’s working for you. What books/podcasts/movies are you loving?

How can I support your business right now? Let me know!
